How the cross has helped heal at Ground Zero
Bishop Schoenhals hails the work of New York Lutherans after 9/11

The Rev. Tom Taylor, coordinator for Long Island, represented LDRNY at the recent Assembly of the Metropolitan New York Synod.

Speaking to the Assembly, Pr. Taylor said that Lutheran Disaster Response of New York continues to be the Church at Ground Zero, and will be there for the long haul.

He told the Assembly a poignant story of how a makeshift cross at the construction site has helped to heal one grieving family’s heart at Ground Zero.

“It was as if the cross took in the grief and loss,” he said. “I never felt Jesus more.”

“LDRNY will continue to be what Bishop Bouman has reminded us all to be – The Church at Ground Zero.”
