Journalist David Ostby of Norway’s Korsets Seier (Victory of the Cross) visited the Comfort and Renew Center on Feb. 6 to interview LDRNY’s Executive Director John Scibilia and Deputy Coordinator Mikki Baloy about the purpose of the Center and the importance of being located in lower Manhattan. Ostby’s asked how New York is different since 9/11. “New Yorkers have changed," said Baloy. "We’ve all changed. We’re a little more likely to slow down and chat for a minute. We weren’t known for that three years ago.” When asked about the role of the faith community in disaster recovery, particularly in terms of being a visible ministry to victims and survivors, Scibilia said: “We at the Comfort and Renew Center give arms and legs to the Gospel. The work we do speaks for us as Christians.”
