Lutherans mark Sept. 11 in New York
Lutherans in and around New York City marked the 4th anniversary of Sept. 11 last Sunday in a variety of ways. Many attended special church services, while others visited Ground Zero and the LDRNY offices overlooking the site. LDRNY partners and friends got together to remember all the work that has been done in the past four years to help people heal and recover. Tribute Center offers inaugural tour of Ground Zero
At a Sept. 9 press conference in New York City, the Tribute Center offered the inaugural tour of Ground Zero. The Center, on Liberty Street facing the former World Trade Center site, is a project of the 9/11 Families’ Association and partially funded by LDRNY and other donors. New York Gov. George Pataki, State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg attended, and were led by 9/11 Families' Association Vice-President Lee Ielpi on the first official tour. "We must rebuild," said Gov. Pataki, "but more important is remembering." To read the full story, go to www.LDRNY.org and click on Top News.
