Feb. 26 marked the 13th anniversary of the first World Trade Center attack. Six people were killed and 1,000 more were injured when a truck bomb exploded in the garage area.  LDRNY remembers the victims of this violence, as well as all those who continue to suffer from the affects of 9/11.

State legislators fight for 9/11 health
New York State Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Vito Fossella have introduced legislation that would require the appointment of a 9/11 Health Czar to investigate and provide services for recovery workers.. To read more and lend your support, visit http://www.house.gov/maloney/press/109th/20060125HealthCzar911.htm

Lutheran leadership speaks out for humane immigration reform
LDRNY President Bishop Stephen Bouman and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services have commented recently on HR 4437. This bill passed in the House, and will come before Senate for a vote. It would criminalize undocumented immigrants and those who asist them in any way-- including clergy andreligious workers.  Many faith leaders have already spoken out in protest.
