Two churches come to the aid of a displaced New Orleans family
A family devastated by the wrath of Hurricane Katrina has found a blessing in the congregations of New Hope, Jamaica, and Resurrection, St. Albans, Queens. Stan and Lisa Pryor had been relocated from New Orleans to New York City via Houston after their home was destroyed. They were being housed through a Red Cross program in a hotel near these two churches. At the end of October, when the housing program ended, the family had nowhere to go, and ended up on the street. Mom was due to deliver her baby, Fantasia, any day. To read how the churches came to the rescue, go to www.LDRNY.org.

Dobbs Ferry church group helping rebuild in Mississippi
God's blessings to a group from Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church who will spend Feb. 18-25 working in Biloxi, Miss., to help rebuild following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. "We're not sure exactly what projects we'll be doing and it really doesn't matter,"? said Pr. Chris Mietlowski. "We want to go and do whatever we can to help; to remind the people of that area that we are still thinking of them and praying for them. We expect to work hard and to be good listeners.  We remember all too well in the NYC area following 9/11 how important it is to have companions at difficult times.  This will be a ministry of presence."  To read the full story, go to www.LDRNY.org and click on Top News.
